Here is a link to my Prezi about web 2.0 and web 3.0.
I decided to use Prezi for this assignment because I already have a Prezi account and have been using it in the classroom for the last two years. I like Prezi because it is easy to use and more engaging than a basic powerpoint. I also like it because it's mobile, so I can create a presentation and view it from anywhere.
I used my textbook to find information for this assignment. I also used webopedia and wikipedia and got a better understanding of Web 3.0 by reading this article and this article.
It was interesting reading about web 2.0 and 3.0. I've never heard of those terms before. It's fascinating how much the web has developed over the last few years, I remember when it starting becoming web 2.0, around the time when social media came about. From my understanding, web 3.0 is an extension of 2.0 and we don't really know what all it entails yet. The challenge I faced during this assignment was just reading about web 3.0 and trying to understand what it is and how it's different. It was also challenging getting all of my thoughts and findings into the Prezi document so that the reader could easily follow and understand. I struggled with the last question and changed my answer in the presentation several times. I hope my final answer makes sense.
This activity encouraged me to think about ways that I can use Web 2.0 in my classroom...
I have an art room Instagram account where I post photos of the kid's work to share with parents and older students. This chapter got me to ask myself questions like How can I better engage my older students and encourage them to learn more about art through our art room Instagram? Or other mobile app, forum, or blog? At the moment, I am just posting photos of the students at work and their final pieces (and using it for myself, to connect with other art teachers). I believe it does get the students a little more excited and it may encourage them to put more effort into their projects (because their work may be posted). This chapter got me thinking of different ways that I can take it step further and maybe find a space online for students to share art tutorials, post photos of art including art they make at home, and having discussions about art outside of the classroom.

ReplyDeleteI had never heard of this site before now and I did not choose it to present the assignment, but I do agree that it is a step up from a basic PowerPoint. It is more interactive and user friendly. You did a good job creating the web and organizing the information within your presentation. It looks appealing and is easy to follow.
DeleteI LOVE Prezi! Before this assignment I had not used Prezi for about 4 years. I also think that it has more features than Powerpoint.
ReplyDeleteReally like your art room idea. I am not teaching but I think it's a great idea to allow parents to see what you are doing in class with their children. When you put their work on display for others to see, it gives them a boost of confidence. They feel that their work is admired.
Very cool that you're using Instagram for your own classroom. I bet parents love to see their kids work! There are some many great ways to check out cool, unique artists via their social media these days that I'm sure that you could find some way to engage your older kids. Maybe even showing them the wide marketplace for art online would help them connect more -- you could even check out Etsy for examples!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on this assignment! I have never used Prezi before but after viewing yours, I am certainly going to use this resource in the classroom. It seems to have much more than your typical powerpoint can offer. You also did great in presenting your information on Web 2.0 and Web 3.0. Thanks so much for sharing!
